Eric E. Blackham Killed in Utah County Racing Crash on SR-147 near 8000 S

Utah County, Utah (October 8, 2019) – An 18-year-old Provo man was killed a racing crash Monday evening in Utah County, according to authorities.

The crash took place around 5:15 p.m. October 7, on SR-147 (5600 W) near 8000 S, northwest of Payson.

UHP said a blue 1975 Ford F25, driven by Eric E. Blackham, and a 2004 Chevy Silverado were heading northbound on the highway when the Chevy pulled up alongside the Ford. While exhibiting speed, a sideswipe crash occurred.

The impact caused the Ford to go off the left side of the roadway where it rolled over.

Blackham was declared dead at the scene. A younger passenger in the Ford was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Spanish Fork Canyon, Utah (October 8, 2019) – Three people were injured in a rollover crash on Monday in Spanish Fork Canyon, UHP said.

The collision took place on Monday, October 7, on Highway 6.

UHP said a dump truck pulling a flatbed trailer was heading westbound on the highway when it drifted off to the right shoulder of the roadway. The driver tried to swerve back onto the highway, but caught the lip of the asphalt and rolled over.

The dump truck whipped across both lanes of traffic onto the railroad tracks to the southbound side of the roadway.

An eastbound minivan was hit in the process, and it went off the southbound side of the roadway, landing upside down next to the train tracks.

Two people in the minivan were taken to local hospitals with serious but not life-threatening injuries. The dump truck driver sustained only minor cuts and scratches.

The closed both lanes of Highway 6.

An investigation is underway.

Police said a red Ford Pickup truck, occupied by a couple, collided for unknown reasons with a Dodge Caravan at the intersection.

Firefighters had to extricate the couple who was trapped in the Ford.

The couple was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center for evaluation. The Caravan driver was uninjured in the crash.

Both vehicles were towed away from the scene.

Two Injured in Rear-End Crash on SR 56 in Cedar City

Cedar City, Utah (October 1, 2019) – Two people were injured in a rear-end crash Monday evening in Cedar City, a local news source reported.

The crash occurred shortly after 6:00 p.m. on September 30, on state Route 56 at 2150 West, east of Cove Drive.

Police said a male juvenile was driving a white Ford Fusion, with two other juvenile passengers, eastbound when he reached traffic that had backed up in a construction zone.

The Fusion then rear-ended a Toyota Scion with two occupants. The impact caused the Scion to hit a Toyota Corolla before coming to rest on the opposite side of the roadway.

A passenger in the Scion was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

One of the two passengers in the Fusion was treated at the scene for a cut on his hand.

The Fusion and the Scion had to be towed away from the scene.

The Fusion driver was cited for following too closely.

St. George, Utah (October 1, 2019) – One person was injured in a traffic collision involving a school bus Monday afternoon in St. George, according to a local news source.

The crash happened on Monday, September 30, on 100 South at 1200 East.

Police said a school bus carrying three children from Legacy Elementary School was attempting to make a left turn heading westbound on 100 South from 1200 East. The bus driver didn’t see a white Nissan Altima which was heading eastbound on 100 South, and it pulled out in front of traffic, resulting in a collision.

The Altima driver sustained minor injuries in the crash.

No one on the bus was injured.

The bus driver was cited for failure to yield after a stop.

The crash remains under investigation.
