Rodney Pridmore Killed in Emery County Powered Parachute Crash at Sid and Charley Pinnacles
Emery County, Utah (October 8, 2019) – An Idaho man was killed on Saturday in a powered parachute crash in San Rafael Swell, according to a local news release.
The crash took place shortly before noon, October 5, at the Sid and Charley pinnacles.
Deputies said a group of five men had flown from Huntington Airport Saturday morning and landed at Sid and Charley pinnacles.
One of the men, Rodney Pridmore, 68, got into the air first and he radioed his group about having troubles with the aircraft and they advised him to land.
As Pridmore landed, the aircraft impacted in a shallow wash.
Pridmore was declared dead at the scene.
According to the deputies, there was a problem with the rope and pulley steering system.
The FAA is investigating the crash.
