One Person Killed in Big Cottonwood Canyon Crash on Big Cottonwood Canyon Road
Big Cottonwood Canyon, Utah (August 17, 2019) – One person was killed an several others injured in a two-vehicle collision early Saturday morning in Big Cottonwood Canyon, according to the authorities.
The crash happened just before 3 a.m. on Big Cottonwood Canyon Road near the Butler Fork Trailhead.
Authorities said a car traveling on Big Cottonwood Canyon Road left the roadway and slammed into a pickup truck in a parking lot. Two people were sleeping in the pickup truck bed at the time of the crash.
The car then went up the embankment and rolled.
One of the pickup truck occupants died in the crash. The other occupant was transported to a hospital with critical injuries.
Four people riding in the car were hospitalized with critical injuries. One of the patients was transported by helicopter.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
