1 Killed, 5 Critically Injured in 2-Vehicle Accident on Big Cottonwood Canyon Road

One Person Killed in Big Cottonwood Canyon Crash on Big Cottonwood Canyon Road

Big Cottonwood Canyon, Utah (August 17, 2019) – One person was killed an several others injured in a two-vehicle collision early Saturday morning in Big Cottonwood Canyon, according to the authorities.

The crash happened just before 3 a.m. on Big Cottonwood Canyon Road near the Butler Fork Trailhead.

Authorities said a car traveling on Big Cottonwood Canyon Road left the roadway and slammed into a pickup truck in a parking lot. Two people were sleeping in the pickup truck bed at the time of the crash.

The car then went up the embankment and rolled.

One of the pickup truck occupants died in the crash. The other occupant was transported to a hospital with critical injuries.

Four people riding in the car were hospitalized with critical injuries. One of the patients was transported by helicopter.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

3-Year-Old Boy Hit and Injured by Car on South 1000 East in Clearfield

Clearfield, Utah (August 16, 2019) – A boy was struck and injured by a vehicle on Monday night in Clearfield, according to police.

The incident took place at about 9:40 p.m. August 12, near the 2200 block of South 1000 East.

Police said victim struck is a 3-year-old boy.

Paramedics responded to the incident and transported the boy to a hospital. The boy was reportedly in stable condition.

The driver of the involved car remained at the scene after the crash and cooperated with the investigators.

Police are investigating the incident.

Norman Stevens Dies in Piute County Paragliding Crash near State Route 153

Piute County, Utah (August 16, 2019) – A man was killed in a paragliding accident on Wednesday afternoon in Piute County, according to the sheriff’s office.

The incident was reported at around 2:20 p.m. August 14, on the Beaver Mountain Ranger District north of State Route 153.

Authorities said Norman Stevens, 61, slipped below his harness after takeoff. He then crashed into a deep canyon after the glider wing collapsed.

Piute and Sevier County search and rescue conducted a search and were able to locate Stevens’ body at approximately 6 p.m.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
